Time to Find Ollie ASAP

It’s been over five weeks, and I haven’t heard anything from Ollie.  I imagine he’s ok and his health is perfect as always, otherwise, I imagine he would’ve somehow kept me informed if something was wrong that he needed me to know.  My last conversation, well, no, not really conversation, but a word puzzle he wrote for the bartender at the beach bar I think, was his way of giving me clues to his whereabouts.

But why couldn’t he just tell me?  Is it a test for me that the old Einstein look alike professor – type with an attitude of supreme confidence and gentle humility created for me to see if I had all the right stuff to write his book?  Or maybe, he doesn’t want to be found at all, as he said, because of his past and the shadow men, and all that dark shady stuff.

So, my choice is to keep waiting for him to return to the beach bar, if that ever happens in my lifetime, or more importantly —his, or take charge of the situation and go find him. I have a few days off, so I decided to do the latter because my gut is telling me that not only am I hungry, but this old dude is never coming back.

I looked at the letter he wrote me, that I described in my last post:  God is Great and Beer is Good. Before he told me to play the song by Billie Currington, People are Crazy, he wrote that I must listen closely to the words because they would tell me how to find him.  Well, in the song, an old man is telling old stories at the bar with some guy and they are getting to know each other pretty well, for some reason.  Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Then he wrote, “be careful with those dangerous bachelorettes with boots on Broadway.”  Boots on Broadway?  And why are bachelorettes dangerous?  And where is a big Opera?  The Metropolitan opera house in NYC certainly is large and well known.  But why did he use the adjective “big”?  Well, Broadway is in NYC and so is the Metropolitan opera house as well as bachelorettes I suppose, but do they wear boots?  And he wants me to visit Legends because “Tootsies” is too pink for me.”

Google was my choice of course, to figure this out, and I found out there are places named Tootsies all over the country, including Miami, Houston, NYC and Nashville, but the only one that google showed as pink was actually a little purple on the outside, I guess, and it was in Nashville.  The other ones were clothing stores and various establishments that I don’t think he would step in to. I doubt that Ollie would like to be in NYC because it is too crowded and I don’t think he likes the hustle and bustle of the big city, or maybe the NYC attitude, so I doubt that he wants me to visit the Met.  And the bachelorettes is an interesting clue, and I guess that is something that could be dangerous anywhere for a single man, but where in this country do they wear boots, it seems, commonly?  And finally, there are about 8 million “Legends” establishments in this country, but what the hell puts it all together logically?

The only city that puts it all together is Nashville!  That’s because he mentioned Billy Currington, a country singer and his song, Tootsies is a honky tonk bar there that is pink, or maybe kind of purple, and the big Opera is probably the Grand Old Opry, and it seems throngs of bachelorettes are known to come to Nashville to wear short skirts, drink, dance to the country music and of course wear cowgirl boots as mandatory apparel. And finally, there is a Legends honky tonk bar right next door to Tootsies, on Broadway street, and apparently less well known, so…

Nashville, here I come!  Yee hah!

Wish me luck.
