What to do in the morning before you leave for work to avoid embarrassment:
Since I’m a bachelor, I have total freedom to do what I want and when as well as how I want to do it in my house with no words from others to tell me otherwise. That is of course, unless the cat objects, in which case I just fight him for control of the Carson domestic kingdom. Sometimes I win.
This freedom of course, has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Some of these advantages include but are not limited to the following:
• I can leave unfolded laundry in a pile wherever I want.
• Sometimes I fold my laundry if it needs it.
• I can leave dirty dishes in the sink if I’m in a hurry. In fact, dishwashers make convenient cupboards.
• Sometimes articles of clothing are left on the floor when I go to work. Yes, people, this includes underwear.
• I can read books and articles and leave them anywhere I want. Use your imagination.
• I take out the garbage when I want. Always when it stinks though.
I guess you get the message, but really, I’m a relatively clean guy with many freedoms, domestic wise that is. However, after my NDE one year ago, I think I left my house a mess, clothing on the floor, stupid notes to myself and important papers scattered everywhere. You see, I had no idea that I would be close to death, and that it was unlikely that I was coming back again and only God knew that answer.
Ever since then, I realize that when I wake up in the morning, it may be my last day on this earth. I know, this may seem like an uncomfortable subject to some, but to me it was reality. So, although I don’t leave my house in the morning spotless, no far from it, I do leave it respectable enough for people to see if I don’t return. So, I pick up those unmentionables from the floor that I am mentioning, put my important papers away and try to make my bed, although it will be lumpy, and if you try to bounce a quarter off of it, you will lose your quarter. I love life and the gift God gave to me and I will cherish it daily until he chooses to take me, and I will never take life for granted, but you got to have your stuff and especially your life – in order.
Just a little advice, my readers. You just never know.
