Bring Back Ellen

It was good while it lasted I guess.  I went to ride up to the ninth floor with Ellen today, but she wasn’t available.  I just finished a surgery and I sure needed her – that soothing voice, relaxing non – elevator music and of course skillful hands to massage my tense shoulder muscles.

Yellow caution tape draped in an X fashion across her  always welcoming door, and a sign that read “under construction” obscured her frequently pressed up and down buttons.  Seems that employees suddenly stopped using the stairs and spent much more time on elevators, especially Ellen, and the management took notice.  Although elevator time with Ellen certainly increased (especially with the male population), I’m sure productivity actually increased because of her. In fact, the ladies were pushing for an elevator named “Antonio” and rightfully so but i’m not sure that’s going to happen now.

I have no doubt that the management never had the courage to ride with Ellen, and if they did, I’m sure they wouldn’t admit it.  That’s unfortunate, because i’m sure their production would increase, and they would be more likely to smile under the stress of meeting the bottom line.

Sometimes political correctness goes a little too far and we need to lighten up a little bit, don’t you think?  What’s wrong with some clean elevator fun to break up the hum drum work day?

Yeah, I sure miss Ellen.

Perhaps I will need help from my readers to launch a “Bring Back Ellen” campaign…
